Research Note

December 2021 Growing an open RAN in the Orange Gardens

December 2021

Abstract

Look at Figure 1 and you quickly understand what I’m talking about: Orange’s open RAN initiative at its Innovation, Research and Development Campus inaugurated in 2016, and located in Châtillon, a small town about 2 miles south from Paris. Launched on November 10, 2021, Orange’s Open RAN Integration Center is truly dedicated to open RAN technology. Thanks to Team Orange for organizing this productive in-person meeting in less than a month after the official launch. Orange plans to make this lab accessible to equipment suppliers involved in the expanding open RAN ecosystem, including vendors, start-ups and system integrators looking for an operational and interoperability testing platform. In addition, this Open RAN Integration Center network is also remotely accessible. LightCounting subscribers can access the full text of this research note by logging into their accounts.
